If you have lived in West Chester for more than a couple of summers, you already know the rhythm. VOA MetroPark carries July and August. Liberty Center handles the rest. The Square at Union Centre fills in Thursday nights. That map held for a long time.
It stopped holding sometime last fall, and this summer is the first full season where you can feel the difference from your own driveway.
The center of gravity moved, and it moved on purpose
The short version is that West Chester and Liberty Township added a second dining-and-gathering hub within a fifteen-minute drive of almost every subdivision in the 45069 zip code, and the timing lines up with a big year at VOA. What used to be a choice between a park event and a Liberty Center reservation is now a choice between three or four places, most of them new enough that half the neighborhood has not tried them yet.
That is the practical thesis of this post. Your summer calendar is not the same one you ran last year, even if the anchor events look identical on paper. The events are the same. The evenings around them are not.
The VOA MetroPark weekends still anchor everything
Two dates carry the season, and they are worth blocking off first before you plan anything smaller around them.
July 3 and 4: the Kemba Credit Union All American Bash
The event takes place at VOA MetroPark on July 3 and 4, 2026, from 4 to 11 p.m. both nights, with free parking at 7050 VOA Park Drive and a fireworks show at 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. Admission is free. The event is produced in partnership with ColdIron Productions and MetroParks of Butler County, benefiting the VOA Museum, which is a detail worth mentioning to anyone visiting from out of town who assumes it is a municipal fireworks show like every other one in the region.
The practical read on the Bash is that it is a two-night commitment for most families who show up, not a one-night one. If you have gone before, you know Friday tends to be the easier parking night and Saturday tends to be the longer stay.
August 6 through 9: Voices of America Country Music Fest
The four-day festival returns for its next installment with a lineup that reads a lot heavier than most regional country festivals. The 2026 lineup at the Voices of America Country Music Fest includes Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, and Blake Shelton, with Jordan Davis also on the four-day pass roster. Weekend passes are available and the festival has published its own accommodations page, which matters because hotel inventory tightens fast that weekend across Union Centre and Liberty Way.
If you are a homeowner near the park, this is the weekend where the traffic pattern in your neighborhood changes noticeably from Wednesday afternoon through Sunday night. It is also the weekend when hosting out-of-town family in your guest room is genuinely more comfortable than sending them to a hotel.
What changed within walking distance of Union Centre
The Thursday night crowd already knew about The Square. What is new is what surrounds it now.

The Thursday listing on the West Chester Township calendar has been the same for years. The Square hosts The Takeover on The Square on Thursday nights, presented by First Financial Bank, with bands, beer, and food each week as a way to kick the weekend off early. What changed is that the pre-Square dinner conversation is no longer a debate between the same three chain restaurants at Union Centre. Chick-fil-A Union Centre Blvd. began serving West Chester on October 23, 2025 at 9414 Civic Centre Blvd, open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. That reshuffles quick-dinner logistics for a lot of families on a Thursday when the Square band starts at seven.
The Saturday market is the other constant. The West Chester Market operates year round, with weekly summer markets kicking off in May and running every Saturday through September at the MidPointe Library parking lot with local farmers, butchers, bakers, and artisans plus food and drink vendors, and cold-weather vendors moving indoors at the Muhlhauser Barn on select Saturdays from late November through March. If you have kids in a stroller, the MidPointe lot is still the most workable morning of your week.
Liberty Collective is doing what Liberty Center used to do alone
This is the biggest single change to the weekend map, and it is the one most likely to catch a longtime resident by surprise if they have not been over there yet.
Liberty Collective is an 18,000 square foot development with both indoor and outdoor entertainment that opened after the Ewers family broke ground on the project in 2023. A grand opening ribbon-cutting followed several weeks of a soft opening at the entertainment and restaurant venue, and the space now runs on a full weekly schedule. The design decision that matters most for residents is not the food. It is the sand.
- The Beach at Liberty Collective has five sand volleyball courts that can transform into a continuous sand beach, running spring through fall with volleyball, sand soccer, flag football, sand yoga, sand dodgeball, and sandy pickleball
- Collective Pour is Liberty Township's first self-pour tap wall, featuring 30 rotating taps of craft and domestic beers plus cocktail and wine options
- Ramundo's Pizza Famiglia serves specialty pizzas by the slice or pie, sandwiches, salads, and homemade meatballs
- Ms. Lei Lei's serves brined and hand-breaded chicken tenders plus fresh salads and hand-cut sides from Chef Jarrod Ante
- Bristol's, owned by chef Robert Viox of the Four Mile Pig restaurants, offers smoked BBQ, double-decker cheeseburgers, smoked wings, and Italian beef
- Rice Life is run by Chef Marcus Johnson, formerly a chef at Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse
- Caladesi Bourbon & Wine Tasting Bar opens in the evenings with curated bourbon, wine, and spirit flights plus special tasting events
- Lulu's Sweets Boutique, tucked inside the creamery, features French macarons from local baker Rosanna Ruwe plus scratch-made cakes, cookies, and brownies
Owner Mike Ewers has said the couple looked at the suburbs and saw family-driven communities with disposable income and people looking for experiential dining, and thought nobody was doing this type of thing in Liberty, Mason, and West Chester. Whether or not that pitch holds up long-term, it is the reason a Tuesday night at Liberty Collective now feels closer to a Friday night at Liberty Center than most people expected it to.
The slow build at Village North
The other piece of the map is still coming into focus, and it is worth putting on your radar this summer even though nothing there is open yet.
Village North is a 49-acre development that straddles West Chester and Liberty townships, with eight restaurants and retailers signed on to join a planned Whole Foods anchor, pitched as a walkable cluster of shops, patios, and gathering spaces off Butler-Warren Road, moving toward a 2026 opening. Eight new leases have been signed for restaurants coming to Village North at 8296 Liberty Way in West Chester Township, including Brassica, the Mediterranean fast-casual chain based in Columbus. The development sits just off Interstate 75, across from the Liberty Center mixed-use shopping mall and entertainment district.
The reason this matters for a resident right now, before it opens, is traffic. Butler-Warren Road is the connector road for a lot of school pickup routes and evening errands, and construction sequencing between now and the ribbon cutting will shape your afternoons more than the eventual tenant mix will. If you drive that stretch daily, expect the pattern to keep shifting through the fall.
A handful of standing dates worth putting on the fridge
September 19, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Olde West Chester. The Founders Day Celebration will feature food trucks, beer sales, and a street fair atmosphere at the West Chester Presbyterian Church at 8930 Cincinnati Dayton Road, hosted by the West Chester-Union Township Historical Society and the Olde West Chester Business Association.

How to actually plan the next six weekends
If you take one thing from this: your summer map is now a triangle, not a corridor. VOA MetroPark on the west side of the township. The Square and Union Centre in the middle. Liberty Collective and eventually Village North on the east side of Butler-Warren. That triangle is the shape of a West Chester weekend in 2026, and it is genuinely different from what the same weekend looked like in 2024.
The families who feel most settled this summer are the ones who have already rotated through all three corners once, so they know which one fits which mood. The families who feel a step behind are usually the ones who have not been to Liberty Collective yet and are still defaulting to the same two restaurants they always defaulted to. There is no rush. There is just a bigger menu of Saturdays than there used to be.
